How to Become A Successful IT Professional?

There are different ways to become an IT Professional, as an IT student there are different things to consider on how be better at your chosen field. As I browse the internet and started my research on my topic, I've found some tips to consider which will help not only the students but also the people who are wanting to be a successful IT Professional.

Upon researching on my topic, I opened an article from Eric Bloom. Eric Bloom is an IT Professional, and a former CIO president of Manager Mechanics LLC, a company that specializing in IT leadership development. On the article he was asked by a visitor on how to become a successful IT Professional. When Eric Bloom went home the question resonated on him and ended up thinking about how to become a professional. Then he came up with 12 attributes or characteristics to become a successful IT Professional.

1. Loves Technology
· He explained in this first attributes is that the person must love technology especially if you are an IT, because how can you be a successful if you don't even love or enjoy technology. He mentioned the word "Infectious", meaning if you are someone capable of influencing a number of people whether it is your boss, peers, clients or staff, you are a good example of a person which easy to be with. Through this you can exchange ideas to your certain topics or even projects as well.

2. Understands Data
· Understanding the data, this is where you will show how much you know the company you are working from. In business perspective, if you know or you understand the company data flow you will easily understand the process of the company or the business.

3. Understands Business
· This is where you will show or be more confident with your profession. If you know a plenty of ideas about the company or the business, you can serve the business more innovative.


4. Can speak both techie and non-techie
· You should be flexible in terms of communicating. We all know that not all the people we meet understands the terms or acronyms we are using when we are with our colleagues.

5. Is a mile deep in primary expertise
· "IT professionals respect competence." with this quote, A person should know how or where his expertise should be, if his expertise is about business he should be in business line in the company or if his expertise is data communications, he should know everything about connections like Cisco routers or other data communicating devices.

6. Has a working knowledge of related technical areas
· Like flexibility in communicating, you should also be flexible on what primary technology you are working. If you are a Java programmer, you should have a wide understanding on different design and procedures of the database you are working.

7. Shares technical knowledge with others
· On how well you are with other people. How you share you knowledge with others. This will help you grow as a person. With this you can also work together as a team and exchange a better ideas in the future.

8. Loves to learn
· Willingness to know new things and technology. Time flies by so fast where you need to upgrade the hardware and software because in every single month more upgrade and more products are competing. With this competition of new products, you will show how you are willing to take part to understand and learn this new things.

9. Is a team player
· Being a team player can lead to a better development at work and co-workers. Not everyone can work alone, eventually you will need a team where you share your work with.

10. Thinks outside the box
· Recreating is like recycling, it is like continuous process where you will enhance the old things to an innovative ways. A more better way to create a new process and approaches that will help you better at your job.


11. Sees problems as learning opportunities
· Some can manage to see the problems ahead, but not everyone. With this you can feel wonderful when the technology and the process of the business is running smoothly. An ability to fix the problems and have an insights for better choices.

12. Loves a technical challenge
· How much challenge you are willing to take. If you are a very competitive person you can make solutions and have a new interesting ideas which you can use to job. Your thoughts can be more creative and you will love the challenge everytime.
