The Top Certifications for IT Professionals

Good day everyone! I am Sunny Perando. This is going to be my debut on writing an article for a blog so please bear with me. The topic that I got is “The Top Certifications for IT Professionals”.





As one of my professors has told us, IT students and IT professionals don’t take board exams, which are given to ensure efficiency of the knowledge and skills. BUT if an IT Professional takes a certification it enables him/her to be equivalent to those board passers. Benefits such as: more job opportunities, promotions and high salary than an ordinary employee. We also can become competitive and become more efficient. So what are these certifications? Without further ado, let’s get into it. In no particular order I grouped top certification by a vendor / company.


Microsoft Certifications


· Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
IT Professionals with MOS Certificate has the knowledge and skills in using Microsoft Office Application such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, OneNote and Exchange. Being most popular with mostly administrative workers and also valuable if you work on cloud computing and technical support.


· Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
MTA is an entry-level Microsoft certification that evaluates the fundamental knowledge for those new IT for them to build their career. Investing time and resources can build candidates foundation understanding in areas of IT infrastructure, Database or Development and earn a professional certification.

· Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
For anyone who’s working with servers, private cloud networks, enterprise networking, data systems, enterprise devices, business applications or storage MCSE work best for you. This certification is popular with IT managers, directors, system administrators, system engineers and network administrators.

· Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD)
MCSD certification focuses on building apps designed specifically for Windows products. This certification is most common to software engineer, architect, developer and programmer.


Cisco Certification


· CCNA Certification
Cisco Certified Network Associate certification gives validation to your abilities to install, configure, operate and troubleshoot routed & switched networks.

· CCDA Certification
Cisco Certified Design Associate certification validates your skills for designing a secure Cisco network.

Amazons Web Services (AWS) Certifications


· AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
Amazons Web Services’ most popular certificate for those who would want to enter cloud architecting space. Having this demonstrates your ability to design and deploy solutions for AWS platform.

· AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
The certificate demonstrates advance proficiency in designing of distributed systems and applications of AWS platform.

· AWS Certified Developer - Associate
The certificate validates your skills in designing and maintaining AWS applications.

· AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate
AWS demonstrates skillfulness to deploy, scale, and migrate the management of AWS systems. The certification exam of SysOps requires candidates to have at least one year experience on managing cloud application.

· AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
DevOps is an AWS certificate validation of knowledge in provision, management, security and operating of AWS solutions. Candidates are demanded to have the AWS Certified Developer or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (associate) credentials before taking the exam.

ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) Certifications


· Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
As the gold-standard certification for Information Systems Auditors, CISA certified systems auditors has the skills and abilities in auditing computer systems, managing of vulnerabilities, controlling institute security and overseeing compliance of enterprise level.

· Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
This covering four vital domains of cyber security management: security governance, risk management, creating security program and responding to incidents.

· Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
CRISC demonstrates mastery of Information Technology and enterprise risk management. Calculation and mitigation of risk is a recommended knowledge in enterprise IT.

· Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)
This certificate validates expertise on principles and real-world applications for enterprise IT governing.
